Austin Marathi Shala 2.0

Marathi (मराठी) is one of the 22 Indian languages predominantly spoken in the State of Maharashtra. With over 70 million speakers worldwide, Marathi ranks as the 19th most widely spoken language globally. A significant population outside of India uses Marathi regularly and encourages their children to acquire the language.

'Austin Marathi Shala' is an initiative of 'Austin Marathi Mandal' (AMM), a non-profit organization registered as a 501(c)(3) entity. This endeavor, founded by the 'Bruhan Maharastra Mandal of North America' (BMM), is entirely managed by volunteers.

The core mission of 'Austin Marathi Shala' is to preserve and promote Marathi culture and language by passing it on to the younger generation. Its principal objective is to equip children with competent reading, writing, and speaking skills in Marathi while providing them with substantial exposure to Marathi culture, heritage, and traditions through classroom activities. Moreover, students have the opportunity to showcase their language proficiency during cultural events like Ganapati and Diwali celebrations organized by 'Austin Marathi Mandal' (AMM).

The curriculum at 'Austin Marathi Shala' comprises nine grade levels designed to cover the entirety of the Marathi language, catering to children aged between 4 and 15 years. The 'Austin Marathi Shala' application is intended to assist parents and teachers in customizing their teaching approach based on students' individual learning capacities. Each grade adheres to its respective syllabus, which teachers are expected to cover within a 12-week semester pattern. The application provides revision materials, sample reading content, and oral/written exam papers for each grade, thereby promoting familiarity with examination formats and reinforcing the overall curriculum structure.
